What Are Those White Spots On My Plants?

Have you noticed silvery white spots on your plants, which seem to spread to the entire leaf and stems on some of your ornamental garden plants? This is a sure sign of powdery mildew virus, commonly seen on Bee Balm and Phlox around mid-Summer. This can also affect Annual plants, especially large leaf plants like begonias.

Solution: Fungicide – look for ingredients including sulfur. This is readily available at most garden stores. Usually in a ready mixed solution or powder.

Powder mixing instructions:

Mix 1 tablespoon(15ml) Fungicide with 1 litre of water in a clean spray bottle, shake well

Spray to coat all leaves evenly. Be sure to shake the bottle, as the powder settles after sitting for a while.

Repeat every 7-10days

Note: Be sure to check manufacturers recommended instructions for using product.
